Really, Really, Overrated. and that script? Yikes. Mank is given a British assistant played by Lily Collins to type the screenplay: her husband is MIA in the war which rages overseas, one more extra thread in an already busy film. 2 dagar sedan · It’s clear immediately that Mank benefits substantially from Donald Graham Burt and Jan Pascale’s flawless periodic-specific production design and Erik Messerschmidt’s striking black-and-white cinematography, as the movie is otherwise, for the most part, lacking in elements designed to wholeheartedly capture and sustain the viewer’s interest – with Jack Fincher’s wordy screenplay generally emphasizing snappy, clever dialogue over fully-formed characters and a propulsive narrative.
Serial killers, obsessive entrepreneurs, master manipulators of reality itself: these and their metaphysics are weighty things. Curious. ‘Mank' is notably a passion project for Fincher; he pours all of his Finchy-ness into it and there is much to mine here in terms of zippy filmmaking wizardry.
